The Ricoh Women’s British Open is one of the golfing highlights of the sporting calendar. In its 39th year, this year’s Championship makes its sixth appearance at one of the most famous and historic links courses in the UK, Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport. The seaside club has been host to nine Open Championships and is a fitting stage for the world’s leading players to perform, over what will be four memorable days from the 10th – 13th of July, 2014.
The Ricoh Women’s British Open is one of the most exciting Majors in golf. As one of only two women Major’s played outside the US it is the most international with the 2013 field boasting players from over 20 different nations, including the world’s top 15 on the Rolex Rankings. The field for 2014 will be equally as strong and will include the likes of reigning champion Stacy Lewis, fellow Americans, Paula Creamer and Lexi Thompson, World number one, Inbee Park, past champions Yani Tseng and Jiyai Shin along with Solheim Cup winners Suzann Pettersen, Beatriz Recari and Catriona Matthew amongst others.
Along with the superb golf on show at Royal Birkdale, spectators will find the perfect opportunity to relax and savour the atmosphere when not out on the course; the Championship Village will host a number of exhibition and retail units, interactive activities, and public catering facilities for the whole family to enjoy.
